Charisma Carpenter has officially addressed rumors about her involvement in the upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot. The actress, best known for playing Cordelia Chase in both the original series and its spinoff Angel, said she will not be part of the new project.
In a TikTok video responding to repeated fan questions, Carpenter explained, “I am not in the reboot. I am not in the pilot. I don’t even know if the show has been picked up to go to series. I assume it will be.”
Her comments come as Hulu moves forward with its pilot for the sequel series, which is being directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao from a script by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. The cast includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso, Jack Cutmore-Scott, Merrin Dungey, Audrey Hsieh, Audrey Grace Marshall, Kingston Vernes, and Chase Sui Wonders in a guest role.
Carpenter also clarified that the launch of her new podcast, The Bitch Is Back, had no hidden link to a possible return. “It was not intended to sound coded in any kind of way,” she said. “People thought it was some kind of easter egg, but it isn’t.”
